Japanese Hole Punchers

I guess I never really thought about it, but since I spend a lot of time at school (go figure), I’ve seen my fair share of Japanese school supplies and stationary. Now, obviously some Japanese things will be the same (pencils, generally erasers, pens), and some will be different.

Now I don’t know if this goes for the entire nation, but all the hole-punchers I’ve seen so far here are double punchers. I didn’t realize all of them were this way, as I just figured they were used for specific binder folders. There was this one folder I found interesting that I was given when I first came. The outside was like a manila folder, but on the inside the papers were bound together with these plastic strips that went through the holes, and those were stuck down by movable plastic pieces that could slide up and down to open and close the strips to remove the other piece of plastic that kept them in place.

If a piece of paper is bigger than what the puncher can fit, there’s an extender piece in the apparatus that’ll adjust to fit whatever thing you’re holepunching.
